China Delivered “VRSS-2” Satellite Project to Venezuela

On Mar 21, China Great Wall Industrial Group Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, delivered “VRSS-2” remote sensing satellite project to Venezuela in Caracas.

The Minister of Science and Technology Department in Venezuela Ugwell Loya, the Chinese Ambassador to Venezuela Li Baorong, chief engineer of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, Zhuang Guojing and his Chinese enterprise delegation group attended the delivery ceremony.

“VRSS-2” was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on Oct 9 last year. In January this year, the Chinese and the Venezuela jointly completed the on-orbit delivery review, which was mainly used for land resources survey, environmental protection, disaster monitoring, management and valuation of crops and urban planning.

According to the project contract, China and Venezuela jointly undertook the satellite design, final assembly and testing and opened a new model for space cooperation.

On delivery ceremony, Venezuela expressed appreciation to China for its technology transfer and stated that the through the joint development of satellites, the aerospace industry of Venezuela has drastically promoted. Loya said in the speech, “VRSS-2 is the third satellite that China launched for Venezuela. He highly praised the achievements of space cooperation and announced that President Maduro has decided to continue cooperation with China in the development of the fourth satellite.”

Loya also presented Li Baorong the image of Shanghai Pudong New District which was shoot by “VRSS-2” and dealt by Venezuela.
