On the evening of November 5, China successfully launched the BeiDou No.3 satellite of networking at Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the manner of an arrow binary. Macao Daily News commented on the 7th editorial that BeiDou is both for China and the world. The construction of BeiDou navigation satellite system is expected to be completed by 2020. It will provide global users with stable, reliable and high-quality navigation services, and work hand in hand with other navigation systems in the world to jointly promote human civilization and social development.
More than 90% of the information of mankind is related to time and space. The information of space and time goes deep into all fields of human production and life, and becomes as indispensable as water and electricity, making it the important infrastructure for the national economy. Satellite navigation technology provides human with exact such information about time and space coordinates. As an independent and sovereign power, China finds it crucial to establish its own satellite navigation, location and time-service system to ensure the normal operation of the national economy and national security.
On October 31, 2000, China's first navigation and positioning satellite, BeiDou-A was successfully launched, opening the curtain of China's construction of navigation system. Until now, China has launched 25 BeiDou navigation satellites, covering the Asia-pacific region.
BeiDou No.3 is the new generation of navigation satellite in China. It is of both the Chinese heart and Chinese soul. The atomic clock, known as the heart of navigation satellite, is the core symbol of a nation's ability to independently develop its navigation system. Compared with BeiDou No.2, BeiDou No.3 uses a higher-performance rubidium atomic clock with the stability of E14 magnitude, meaning only one second of error occurs per 3 million years, which is crucial to improving the positioning accuracy. Chinese soul refers to the calculator operating system, SpaceOS2, with the completely independent intellectual property right.
BeiDou No.3 features the high precision, high reliability, high insurance, and versatility. The positioning accuracy for BeiDou No.3 will reach the level of 2.5 meters to 5 meters, provide the positioning service of 10-meter level of precision, and velocity measurement service of 0.2 meter per second, for civil users for free after its completion, and provide paying customers with higher level of accuracy services.
Besides the safe, and reliable space-time information services provided by BeiDou navigation system, BeiDou navigation system also facilitates the growth of related industries in China. Until April this year, the sales of BeiDou navigation chip module has exceeded 30 million. The high-precision plate card and antenna, each accounting for 30% and 90% of shares in China's market in terms of sales, are exported to over 70 countries and regions. In addition, due to the existence of BeiDou, China’s IT industry, high-speed rail, ocean-going vessels, military equipment and communications on plateau meet faster and bigger opportunities for development.
China shall dominate the application technology of BeiDou, but not monopolize. When promoting the application of BeiDou No.3, China will not exclude global navigation satellite systems from other countries, such as the United States and Russia. China hopes to actively promote BeiDou under the conditions of compatibility and service operation, and relies on China's self-innovated advanced technology to lead the BeiDou navigation satellite system to the world.
