The Land Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center and Huawei Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement to Jointly Advance Intelligent Satellite Remote Sensing for Natural Resources

Lately, the Land Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources (the “Land Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center”) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei. With the goal of combining information technology with the application of landsat remote sensing for natural resources and achieving mutual-benefiting cooperation, both sides will provide satellite remote sensing data, information and products, and technical and business support for key tasks of survey, monitoring, evaluation, and supervision of natural resources, and relevant law enforcement, and jointly build a digital and intelligent satellite remote sensing application technology system for natural resources. 

Wang Quan, director of the Land Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center, said that the center is responsible for providing effective multi-dimensional support for the whole-process management of natural resources and coordinating the planning for satellite remote sensing applications in the sea and forest and grassland. In the future, Mr. Wang hoped to cooperate with Huawei to apply such cutting-edge technologies as 5G, AI, cloud computing, and big data into the field of satellite remote sensing, and take the lead in building China’s leading and world-class satellite remote sensing application center for natural resources. 

According to Wang Hejun, vice president of Huawei’s Digital Government Business Department, Huawei is willing to work with the Land Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center to build China’s leading and world-class satellite remote sensing application center for natural resources. Huawei will give full play to its advantages in the domestic self-developed chips, assist the center to establish an autonomous, secure and controllable computing, networking, storage, and AI platform, and better facilitate the center’s efforts to provide more comprehensive, multi-dimensional, scientific and effective technical support and business services.
