Beidou System Datum Station of China’s Arctic Yellow River Station Put in Operation
According to the plan of China’s basic surveying and mapping tasks in polar region of the year 2016, the Bureau of Surveying and Mapping of Heilongjiang Province completed the upgrading and reconstruction task of the GNSS continuously operating reference station of the Arctic Yellow River Station. The Beidou System Datum Station is officially put into operation and starts to provide service for China’s Arctic Yellow River Station.
China's Yellow River Station is located on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen, which is China’s third station in polar area after Antarctic Great Wall Station and Zhongshan Station. It is also the nation’s first research station in the Arctic area. The operation this time has completed the upgrading and reconstruction of Yellow River Station’s GPS continuously operating reference station’s equipment that is compatible with the BeiDou system. It has also optimized the data transmission network, realizing the continuous operation of the datum station as well as its real-time data transmission to China.
The responsible official of the Bureau of Surveying and Mapping of Heilongjiang Province introduced that the official opening of the Beidou System Datum Station of China’s Arctic Yellow River Station will further improve the global accurate positioning ability of the BeiDou satellite navigation system and the positioning accuracy of its navigation service. It will accelerate the internationalization of BeiDou system and greatly improve the independence as well as the navigation and positioning services ability of China’s polar research of surveying and mapping.
